How do you surprise a girl for her birthday?
You take her to the island…South Padre Island in Texas of course!
July 13th couldn’t have gotten here fast enough for Crumb, her birthday was on the 17th and I had planned a trip to South Padre Islands in Texas. I knew I wanted to do something special for her birthday so the months leading up I listened continuously for things that Crumb said she would love to due during the summer time. With her wish list instilled in my brain (actually I had to write everything down because my memory sucks!) I made sure I had plenty of activities planned for each day. I wanted the trip to be a surprise because she deserved a nice getaway and I wanted her to have a blast and experience things that were new for her (and me).
So she packed the car while I packed the snacks, and we set out for the Islands. We did a little shopping and site seeing along the way and ended up arriving to the hotel late that evening. The drive was about 9 hours so I was exhausted from the drive and singing with Crumb the whole time so once we arrived and checked in to the hotel all I had energy to do was shower and head straight to bed. However, Crumb was up the entire night like a kid waiting for Christmas to come I warned her that she would want to get some rest because we had place to be and things to see the next day! Once that alarm clocked went off Crumb was hovering over me waiting to hear what the first activity of the day was. But I was not trying to play twenty questions until I had some breakfast. So, we ate breakfast on the patio of our room overlooking the water as we discussed the activities for the next four days. Because living with Crumb you can only hold a secret for a limited time, before the hassling of question start, so I had to spill the beans!
Once the beans were spilled, it was time to get ready for some fun in the sun! (Activities Listed Below)

Whether it’s a romance getaway, family trip, or a group of friends…South Padre Island, Texas has a little something for people all ages to enjoy. Even if you just want to stick your feet in some sand, take a jet ski tour, or shopping or dining…you won’t be disappointed. We had a blast and everything we did was something we both had done for the first time and the best part was being able to experience the whole thing together! We will be back South Padre…thanks for the memories!
